Il solito cattivo (Richard Pryor, nenache tanto cattivo, che vuole impadronirsi di tutto il petrolio del mondo) impegna con il nostro eroe una epica lotta. Dopo tre episodi anche Superman è piuttosto stanco di salvare vite umane in continuazione. Ecco allora che la trovata (geniale?) del film è quella di sdoppiarne la personalità: ad un certo punto Superman diventa cattivo e dispettoso, poi guarisce e il film infila una trovata comica dietro l’altra per la gioia di grandi e piccini…
